FlpO expression/activity is observed in many locations throughout brain, with sparse labeling in Layer 5ET and none in Layer 6b. These mice may be used to generate conditional mutations for studying α6-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, for example, the role of dopaminergic neurons in nicotine addiction or as a possible therapeutic target for Parkinson's disease treatment.
