Following exposure to another Cre recombinase source and then subsequent illumination of the appropriate wavelength (~920nm) in the presence of the stabilizing antibiotic trimethoprim (TMP), expression of a functional Cre recombinase enzyme complex is expected. These mice are useful for in vivo targeted optogenomic modifications of single cells or cell populations.
